ACRES Project Celbridge visit Kyrie Farm 9 ^th July

We were delighted to have a visit from The Acre Garden Club in Celbridge. The Acre center has agreed to be a pick up location for Kyrie Vegetable bags customers. Vegetables are harvested in the morning, and distributed to the Acre center available for collection in the afternoon.

We are also delighted to welcome a number of the club members to volunteer at Kyrie Farm.

Our thanks to Jane and all the teachers @hotyogadublin.ie and yoga in the park Malahide for having Kyrie Farm as their chosen charity for the whole of the Summer of 2025.

All proceeds will go directly to Kyrie Farm. I’ve been to a few classes and what a great way to spend a Sunday morning, yoga and then a nice walk and coffee in Malahide Castle and Demense. Many thanks!

Nearly 40 amazing volunteers joined us on Saturday 24 ^th May to lend a hand at Kyrie Farm — planting, weeding, tidying the drive, and helping build our very first pond!

It was a day full of hard work, shared laughter, and deep connection — with each other and with nature.

We’re so grateful for the energy, kindness, and community spirit that everyone brought. Together, we’re growing something truly special.

We are delighted to have started back with our vegetable boxes or now bags with our new Kyrie Bags.

Also very pleased to announce the Acres Project in Celbridge as a collection point on Wednesday afternoons from 3pm to 5pm.

John & Vicky McKeon were delighted to visit Gould Farm in June and had an amazing insight into the great work that takes place in Gould Farm. John recorded a number of short videos with members of the staff at Gould which gives a fantastic insight into their work, the aspects that are important to staff and guests and some directions of what would work well at Kyrie Farm.

Saturday 28 ^th June, we had an incredible day with over 55 of our amazing volunteers who help keep Kyrie Farm thriving all year long!

From weeding and harvesting garlic to planting 3,000 leeks and 2,000 kale plants, we got so much done thanks to this powerhouse crew.

And what better way to wrap up a day of hard work than with a BBQ and karaoke? Let’s just say… our farm skills might only be rivaled by our singing voices

We were delighted to welcome Frances, Maria and Harry of the ACRES Community Biodiversity Project from Celbridge to Kyrie Farm. Their enthusiasm for nature, community wellbeing, and sustainability made for a truly inspiring visit. This past Saturday, we hosted our annual BBQ to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported Kyrie Farm over the past year.

From our dedicated board members, volunteers, architects, engineers, and biodiversity supporters, to our generous donors and wonderful neighbors, it was a joy to gather together and celebrate our collective achievements.

We're thrilled to announce that we've secured our planning permission, and now, with your continued support, we look forward to raising the necessary funds to build our facilities in the coming months. A big thank you to all who have been part of this incredible journey!

Polytunnel TLC and Garden Growth

Today, our incredible volunteers rolled up their sleeves and got to work, tackling a variety of essential tasks that keep our farm thriving.

Polytunnel Door Fix: Protecting Our Plants

First on the agenda was fixing the polytunnel door. Polytunnels are crucial for extending our growing season and protecting delicate crops from unpredictable weather. By repairing the door, our volunteers ensured that our plants continue to enjoy the optimal environment for growth, maintaining the warmth and humidity that these sheltered spaces provide.

Planting Kohlrabis: A Crisp and Nutritious Addition

Next up was planting kohlrabis, a unique and nutritious vegetable known for its crisp texture and mild, sweet flavour. Kohlrabi is part of the brassica family, which includes cabbage, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. This versatile veggie thrives in cooler weather, making it a perfect addition to our farm’s diverse array of crops.

Weeding Celeriac: Nurturing a Root Vegetable Powerhouse

Our volunteers also turned their attention to weeding the celeriac beds. Celeriac, sometimes known as celery root, is a hearty root vegetable with a distinct flavour that adds depth to soups, stews, and salads. Weeding is essential for celeriac’s success, as it ensures that these slow-growing plants have access to all the nutrients they need without competition from unwanted weeds.

At Kyrie Farm, our volunteers truly embody the heart and soul of our mission. Last Saturday, we had the pleasure of welcoming friends of Rory and Michael McKeon to join us in the annual garlic harvest. Guided by our farm expert, Nathan, the group worked diligently to bring in this year's garlic crop, which has since been hung in our octagon to dry.

Garlic, a staple in many kitchens, not only enhances the flavor of our meals but also offers a range of health benefits. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, it’s known for its immune-boosting properties. Our organic garlic, grown in the biodiverse soils of Kyrie Farm, will soon be included in our vegetable boxes, bringing a touch of our farm’s goodness to your table.

This week marks the start of our organic veg box season, made possible by the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. Their contributions ensure that our farm thrives, enabling us to deliver fresh, nutritious produce to our community. We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone involved.
