Step Up For Recovery
As you walk each kilometre, we invite you to pause, reflect and consider the five elements of recovery:
Connection, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment.
Connection
Connection reminds us that we don't have to face difficult times alone.
As you walk: Take a slow, deep breath. Think of a person, place or community where you feel you belong. Notice what it feels like to be connected.
HOPE
Hope is believing things can change, or noticing one small reason to keep going.
As you walk: Take a breath and look around you. Notice one small thing that brings you joy, comfort or possibility. Carry that feeling with you for the next step.
IDENTITY
Who we are can change and grow as we learn, heal and discover new possibilities. As you walk: Take a moment to think about something that makes you you. A quality, passion, relationship, memory or dream.
MEANING
Meaning can be found in the small moments that make life feel worthwhile.
As you walk: Slow your pace for a moment. Notice something around you that you find beautiful, interesting or comforting. What makes life meaningful to you?
EMPOWERMENT
Finding your voice, recognising your strengths and knowing your choices matter.
As you walk: Take a breath. Notice your strength. Think of one choice you're proud of. What would you choose for yourself next?
